Msi k7 pro Help!!

just lately after my system update my msi k7 pro mobo or something else has caused it to restart itself when it pleases (like web surfing or in the control panel

what i am running
msi k7 pro mobo (duh)
athlon slot a thunderbird 700mhz w/golden orb fan
windows 2000 sp1 clean install
sound blaster pci 128
192 megs o ram pc100 3 different brands ( i bet thats the problem though its has never acted up before)
creative labs banshee using 3dfx reference drivers
13gig western digital 5400 ata 66 hdd
creative labs 8x4x32 CDRW
generic 24X tech cd-rom
and logitech ifeel mouse optical

your guess is as good as mine ?!?!?

I would try one stick of ram at a time to see if it`s the ram,next try a different PSU.

I have problems that my MSI K7 Pro boots suddenly .. 🙁( ..
Is it the RAM that´s the problem? .. Tested with 2 different 300W PS.

I had a K7T Pro for about 4 months. Initially, about once every few weeks it would not power on. Would cycle power and it would be fine. That progressed to periodic spontaneous reboots. That turned into constant reboots with only CPU, MEM, and floppy connected running a test. Swapped everything except CPU and MB. No change. Eventually would not POST ever. Just 4 red LED's. Took it back to Spartan Technologies for RMA. They tested and confirmed MB was bad and replaced it with a K7T Pro-2a at no charge. The Pro2a is an improvement over the pro. I've now been running 10 days 24/7 with great stability.

Could just be your MB going bad.

From other discussions I've seen, it appears that there is a problem sensing CPU fan speed properly. When this happens, the BIOS thinks there is no fan and shuts things down. A quick check is to connect the CPU fan to the "system fan" connector.

Also, there is a BIOS upgrade that may help.
