MSI K7 Master Doesn't Always POST?

...between the MSI K7 Master-S (with AGP PRO slot) and the MSI GeForce2 GTS videocard?

I'm here in Sacramento, helping my cousin troubleshoot his machine. It's quite random as to when it likes to complete the POST sequence, and I am sure it has something to do with either the videocard or the slot itself. Simply wiggling the card a little or dropping the case lightly on the floor "fixes" the problem, but it can break itself again if the case is moved. It's an odd problem. Any ideas?

Make sure the motherboard isn't shorting out. Could be power supply. do you have spare parts to swap in and see if they work?

Try booting with cpu and heatsink, memory and video card and see if you have problems. If it does ok a few times add components until it flakes out. YMMV

I disconnected all the drives and removed the NIC and soundcard, leaving on the PS, mobo, CPU, RAM, and videocard. After tinkering with the card (banging the case slightly, removing the card, wiggling the card, pressing the reboot button several times) it finally passed the POST sequence and booted into Win98. After keeping the machine on for a few hours, it simply shut down, and now I can't get it to post anymore. Could it be a voltage issue? (He's got a 300W Enlight PS.) I think the mobo is fine, but I don't know about the AGP PRO slot itself. I am good about this sort of stuff, but I'm stumped.

If I have to replace the mobo, what decent board (price, quality) could I get that could be used with an AMD T-Bird 900Mhz (Socket A) with 266Mhz DDR RAM?

Okay, so I bought a "cheap" GeForce4 MX440-SE PCI card to replace the GeForce2 GTS AGP card that was in his machine to see if the problem was the AGP card/slot. The new card did NOT fix the problem; it still doesn't POST.

Every so often it will get through different points of the POST sequence. (The K7 Master has the D-LEDs, so I can see where it's getting in the sequence.) Most times, though, it hangs with the D-LEDs at GRGG, which according to the manual means, "Boot Attempt: This will set low stack and boot via INT 19h" and is accompanied by single, constant beeps (G=green/R=red).

Once the thing boots, it seems to run okay. Sometimes it will run for an entire night and other times only for a couple of hours before it cuts off on its own. When I was able to get it to boot, I entered the BIOS settings and was able to see that the CPU was running at 38C with steady voltage.

I am still stumped. My next move will be to replace the mobo. If it was the CPU or the RAM, I don't think it would have posted/booted at all before.

Edit: Clearing the CMOS didn't improve anything. Last time I got it to boot, I also ran Scandisk, and the HD seems okay. What I hate about this is that it's kinda random.
