o bad MSI sucks and I would NEVER buy one from them

I would, since they must follow ATi`s strict guidelines etc... which means they must be approved by ATi to be a partner for making video cards..

I don't like that green non-reference PCB in the 9800pro (specialy the power connector) but the cooler looks like a decent one.

You're right, RBV5.
I am really glad ATI has won MSI to its side. (they still make Nvidia cards though)

Nothing wrong with making Nvidia cards as well, they will offer features not available on ATI cards and a choice for the consumer. They will be making x800XT cards as well

The inquirer "claims" MSI will introduce an X800pro model with 128MB DDR1. Could be an interesting card <if true> with the right price considering ATI's 128 MB model X800 is reputably only a 128bit memory bandwidth and 8 pipelines.

MSI is probably sick of waiting on the 6800.....they see the opportunity for lots of revenue with the steeply priced X800. I applaud them on the decision , and I have always had good luck with MSI products as well (starting with my first MB, the K7-Pro MSI-6195).

What do you think of eVGA or BFG? as opposed to MSI. Not considering manufacturing ATI based cards though.

MSI makes fine video cards. My 4800SE is made by MSI and the picture quality is great and I can overclock the card to 4800 speeds.

Never thought too highly of evga but I have heard good things of BFG's warrenty policy's. I didn't relize I would be offending so many people ... sorry :( . I was just conveying my feelings about my past MSI products (motherboards).

I have an MSI mb and it does a pretty good job. As for their video, I've read a lot of reviews applauding the quiet noise levels and superb performance, yet I've never owned one. BFG definitely gives a hard-to-look elsewhere option with their good cards and lifetime limited warraties on their cards as well as good tech support. I agree with the thought that MSI is sick of waiting on NVIDIA, sure they were quick to announce but their follow through is still waiting a month later!

You didn't offend me JBT, my e-skin is pretty thick. It'll take a lot to hurt my feelings. :)

Well, you certainly didn't hurt my feelings. LOL. I didn't make the card. :)

I don't know why "MSI sucks".
The MSI 5800 retail pack I bought last summer should be shoved under every single ATI exec's face as the way to pack a video card. It came in a hugew glossy suitcase-like box with a crapload of software and the card OCd to Ultra levels no additional cooling needed. I got a driver disk and a dongle with my 9700 Pro, and the box looked like it should hold cracker jacks instead of a $400 video card.
My MSI K8TNeo motherboard I'm using now has been rock, the packing was equally impressive, and it was about the easiest motherboard install I've ever done.

IMO, from what I've seen, MSI roxorz boxorz.

MSI announced a couple of months ago to trade people that they would be releasing products based on ATI and Nvidia gpu. I do agree with you about MSI producing some great products, not that I am biased or anything you understand. (hides his MSI motherboard and two MSI video cards!) ;)
