MSI GX640-098US Vs. ASUS N61JQ-A1

Sorry, I tapped that out on the way from work. I have a gaming desktop that's in my sig. I want to be able to game with it along with some light Photoshop and some office aps maybe a little vid editing, still gaming is important and I love that hese cards can run Crysis.

So a little background on this is that I actually ordered the ASUS N61JQ-A1 from NCIX and just as I'm logging off I see the MSI that came out literally yesterday and had heard nothing about. It's a pretty great machine from what I can tell and aside from the fact that it doesn't have USB 3.0 I'm really leaning towards it. Given that the MSI has an Express slot that I could use for USB 3.0 and that I doubt I'll need the processing power of the i7 I'm going to go for the MSI GX640... If you have one I'd love to see your remarks on it here. For anyone interested in getting the GX640 make sure you avoid the ones with the DDR3 on them. Doesn't look like many (if any) made it out, but seeing as it was a real possibility at time of launch it's good that they side stepped it in place of the DDR5... anyway, this is me signing off so I can go buy the GX640.

Just wanted to update this thread now that I've bought a GX640. I'm absolutely amazed at what a great machine this is for so little money. It's true that the build could be a bit better, but the performance is fantastic. I'm playing Crysis just below the mid range and it plays fine. The only performance issues that I've had was when I let Microsoft's 'Games for Windows' install. It was part of Batman Arkam Assylum and so I had no choice. It installed fine and the game looked amazing, but as soon as it patched itself all my games started crawling... I uninstalled the patch and all was fine, of course it kept reinstalling and the same problem kept occuring so I finally took the game completely off and now all is fine. Also Fallout 3 crashes, no idea why, perhaps the same issue. Anyway, aside from that all games have been great.
