Hi everybody,

So I build a mini-ITX HTPC gaming pc a few days ago with the msi gtx 760 TF. While setting things up windows, etc everything is perfect, the card is wonderfully quiet, so much so that the two noisiest part of my pc are the HDD and the psu fan !

But tonight as I was dipping into Alan Wake to test my new build, horror the card start to make this cricketing/sizzling noise every times it's under load :

Idle noise
Under Load noise
Transistion noise

Am I being unreasonable ? Is it normal noise ? Or should I RMA ?

Any advice would be most welcome ! Thanks in advance :)

Yes, that is coil whine. I noticed it on my MSI 760 as well, but only on certain workloads (e.g. the credit screen on Heaven). I've heard this on many different video card samples.

It's normal, unfortunately. You could exchange the card, but your replacement would probably make the same noise.

Thanks for the quick answer :)

So it isn't worth it to get it change the noise won't go away?

And is there any way to fix or alleviate the problem, beside returning the card and going with another model ?

That's really too bad I was loving the card until then, but the noise is particularly irritating.
