Newegg is selling MSI N460GTX Cyclone OC for $120 AR (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814127512).
This is the 768mb and overclocked version, which is just a few ticks slower than the 1 gb one, but has the same Cyclone cooler. At $120, it's cheaper than most GT 450's and ATI HD 5770/5830/4890's, which it has no problem beating. It can even surpass or match a GTX 275 up to 1920. Even though I just bought a MSI GTS 460 1gb Hawk for $160AR last week, this deal is just as good. Gonna grab one for my kid.

The performance difference between identically clocked GTX 460 768mb and 1 gb cards is 7-8% at 1920. At lower resolutions it's even less. I am not familiar with Palit's build quality (I do know it's a major manufacturer based in China, as opposed to MSI's being from Taiwan, although ALL the cards are made in China), but personally find the orange fan less appealing. I've always experienced great build qualities from the likes of eVGA/ASUS/MSI/Gigabyte. Overall, I think getting a 1gb GTX 460 for $136 is a great bargain, considering 4 months ago they were all going for >$200. Which one you choose is a matter of personal taste. Here is a review of Palit GTX 460 Sonic (clocked at 800) if you're interested. http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Palit/GeForce_GTX_460_Sonic_Platinum/1.html. You may also want to look at owner's reivews at NE http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...yMark=False&IsFeedbackTab=true#scrollFullInfo
I'm extremely satisfied with my MSI GTX 460 1gb Hawk, so I went ahead and got a 768mb Cylcone, too.

this is a good deal but if you are running higher rez with more AA AF, probably get the Palit 1gb is safer bet.

yes, at 1920 and up the extra RAM and higher mem bandwidth would help; but there are quite a few negative owner's feedbacks at NE regarding Palit's cooler and build quality. There is now also a on Gigabyte GTX 460 1gb for $160 AR at NE--it's more money, but maybe worth it.

Great card but MSI needs speed up their rebates. I purchased mine in September. I sent the rebate in the day after I got the card. My rebate just went from the Processing to the Approved stage. Expect a long wait for your rebate.

I can't recommend the GTX 460 enough, but I can only recommend the MSI/EVGA (middle fan)/ASUS Direct GU editions. Those three are well made cards that overclock like beasts with cooling systems that make virtually no sound. Understand that this is coming from an AMD whore.

The Gigabyte and Palit models, however, are dicey with fan noise (though they perform just as well). I was really disappointed in the GB model, because it looks so damn cool with the dual fan. But the reality is that it makes noise at as low as 40% and it actually vibrates - my desktop is on my desk and was able to feel a small vibration from the fans spinning. YMMV on that, of course, but I did notice it.

I agree that MSI rebate is not the best. I've always gotten mine back, but only after 3+ months. Just gotta be patient, and make sure you keep a copy of the papers. At least you'd still get your rebate, eventually; unlike Sunbeam and Tuniq (they are the same company) that will most definitely not pay you or answer your inquiries.

Thx OP. Just ordered this for my kids for Xmas. Too cheap to pass up. I was going to swap them my GTX 260 and upgrade but frankly I just don't see any compelling deals right now that would make a substantial difference. I'd rather not deal with ATI's drivers so I'm going to pass on the $220 5870 deal too. So the kids will have the 460 and I'll keep my 260 for now.

Money saved = Win

Glad you like the deal. This card can match a GTX 275/280 up to 1920 (at 2560 the larger buffers on the older cards start to show their advantage). Alternatively, you can give your kids the 260 and use the 460 to upgrade your own rig. GTX 460's (esp. those with MSI's Cyclone/Twin Frozer coolers) generate far less noise and heat than GTX 260/275/280/285. In the same PC, my eVGA GTX 285 SSC's loading temp is in the 80's, vs. GTX 460 Hawk's sub- 50's, despite running the 460's core at 880, compared to the 285's 702.

I concur with this. I purchased an MSI motherboard with a rebate back in June. Didn't get the check until September, approx 5 months later, but hey, I did get it!
