How are you getting 4 hours on battery? XOTIC PC gets 2 hours or less non-gaming. I also noticed on HardwareZone you list 3 hours of batt for Borderlands 2, you aren't exaggerating these claims or using any external hardware? I would be very interested if you can confirm this.

I don't play Borderlands, I think you're looking at someone else's post. It was "Shakespeare" who reported 3 hours 42 minutes.

Not sure what the issue is with xotic PC, but I'm quite happy with the battery life. :)

Woops, you're right that wasn't you.

To correct what I said, XOTIC PC is estimating 2 hours non-gaming, not confirmed. So your test holds more weight. I am still skeptical because the Dragon Edition that came out recently has similar specs except its battery is a 9 cell and not a 6 cell, but it only gets 4 hours life non-gaming.

Could you please do a test for non-gaming battery life, just web browsing under light load? Thanks so much for this great review.

I'll do what I can, but I'm fragging right now. :D

I've tested the 14" Blade... The screen is... ugh.

That is what made me check out the MSI in the first place, I need a machine for game design that has a good screen, but I would really like to be able to pop it open at a convention or a coffee shop without the battery always being dead or near dying. The GS70 looks very promising, I am ready to pull the trigger with a bit more info.

Well, my own graphic settings may be a good explanation too. I only run at "Medium" settings because I want 60fps. I doubt I'm pushing the CPU and GPU to the max, thus saving battery life.

But I'll re-run the test again just to make sure I didn't remember my start time wrongly. :)

(well, 8 tall boys of beer were involved as well, so you never know...)

Cheers then :D over on Notebookcheck I am seeing spotty results based on different games and different settings, it seems that while gaming the Nvidia GPU turns off so you may be getting results on the Intel integrated GPU on your tests, but that's just based on what others are saying.

Not a chance in MWO for the Intel GPU. I'd recognize a drop to 4fps instantly

Where was the MSI Gaming mouse that was provided with the laptop? I know it might be a junker, but I couldn't seem to find it in my box. If it wasn't a special deal, I think I'm blind, or something.

It's in one of the compartment boxes, in a black plastic bag. If you look at my 3rd pic, you can see the compartment at the bottom of the laptop, and the black plastic peeking though the opening.

I too am very interested in the laptop's battery life. I'm really concerned that the battery will expire too quickly. Thanks so much for the review, it offers a lot more hands-on details than are available elsewhere. It seems no magazines or websites have done an official review yet! I'm sure I'll be able to base a purchasing decision on your experience; MWO, a bit of KSP and some web coding are the duties I'm looking for it to fill.

Thanks!

Huh... I guess I didn't get one. I looked through my box and all the bags I had taken out and I can't find it. I was just curious because it would be handy to have another mouse in the drawer just in case.

Xotic PC has 2+ hours on a lot of notebooks. It just seems like they took a stab in the dark as I don't think any of those battery life estimates on their site are accurate.

I've been getting very subpar battery life on mine for web browsing and such as well. 2 hours tops. Curious what might be causing this.

Well I have had this laptop for about a week now and when I just do browsing and short YouTube and whatnot, I get about 3 and a half hours, and once I got about 4 hours.
Try setting the ECO mode to office or movie or whatever.

Are you sure because I had a y500 that did that as soon as you unplugged it from the ac Adapter the Nvidia graphics Would disable And it would run off at the Intel integrated graphics so I returned it. I already ordered my gs70 so I hope It doesn't do the same.

That's a very odd thing to return a laptop for given that the option to run with full graphics power while on battery should be found in the built-in WINDOWS power settings. It's always been there on my laptops.

Has anybody notice that it seems to 'bend' in the middle, near where the touch pad is. The rubber feet on the left and right edge aren't touching the table unless you press down on the edges. Almost as if the metal is bending under the weight of my arms.

Doesn't seem to effect anything but very disconcerting...

Hello, I am considering buying this computer but the battery life is essential to me. I see some people posting that they are getting 2 hours, some say they get four. I would appreciate any information the people of the world can give me. Thank you. good night!
