MSI FX5900

Got this baby loaded up, and was checking around, and got to MSI clock. I really dont remember what they were set at, but I downloaded updated drivers for mobo, chipset, and so on. It started looking weird, when I went back to see the clock speeds the 2d, and 3d sliders were to the left, and when I tried to bring em back and apply the settings it said they took. I Xd out, and went back in and they were back to the left except core clock which is at 853. The sargent, general Lt boxes were also greyed out. Does anyone know what happened, and what the 2d,3d setting ought to be. This has a MSI K* board also. It benches ok, I got a 5546 on 3d mark03.

What in the hell are you talking about?
Slow it down a bit, spell out your words for us slow folks. And start from the beginning.

Dude, what was without a doubt the most confusing post I've ever read 😕

In 3d most are clocked 400/850, 2d I'm not sure, I think 300/400 or something.

OK. New system amd64 3000 MSI K8 MB MSI FX5900videocard. Everything is up, and going. When I went to the advanced settings tab, there is a tab for MSI clock. It is for showing the clock speeds on the card, and to overclock if you want to. There is a 2d bar, 3d bar, and a core clock bar. There is also a section below that for DOT overclocking, which I think has something to do withoverclocking the system, not just the video card. My 2d bar,3dbar are all the way to the left, and my core clock is at 853. If I try to change the 2d bar,3d bar, and accept the changes it reverts back to the left. My DOT section is greyed out, where when I first started it up it was not greyed out. It seems like the card is running ok, I just wanted to know why I could not set the bars to a higher frequency. And to get thoughts on why thebars, and DOT do not seem to work. Hope that is better

Sorry guys, I guess you might have to have a MSI 5900 to see what I am talking about. Maybe the new explanation will help

Ok, now we are getting somewhere. You installed the MSI drivers that came with your MSI 5900 right? If so, I would uninstall those MSI drivers and install the latest WHQL drivers from nvidia. It is Forceware 53.03 available HERE.
After you install the 53.03's, you should then install the coolbits registry edit available HERE. Just double cllick and install it.
After that, when you go into advanced tab in display properties, you will see the GeForceFX tab. click on it and a panel will appear and will show clock frequencies that are adjustable.

Have Fun.
