I have this problem with these games:

** Command and Conquer Generals
All I see is the opening picture and then the program crashes out.
The content of the file "ReleaseCrashInfo.txt" is:
"Release Crash at Thu May 13 05:57:43 2004
; Reason Uncaught Exception during initialization."
** Need for Speed Porsche
All I see is the opening picture for a very long time, and then the program crashes out.
** Neverwinter Nights
All I see is the opening picture for a very long time, and then the program crashes out.

Games like QuakeIII and Age of Empires work just fine.

Here's the config of my pc:
P-IV 2.4GHz
Intel D865GBF motherboard
2X 256MB DDR-400 RAM modules
MSI FX5200-T128 AGP card
Hitachi 80GB HDD
SoundMax onboard sound

One thing I noticed was that the games Command and Conquer Generals and Need for Speed Porsche are both from Electronic Arts...

Please help... I really would love to play those games

thanx a million

I highly doubt this is a hardware issue. MOst likely drivers. Specify what drivers you have installed, in what order, your mother board chipset drivers, etc etc.

Worse come to worse, backup and reformat.

What kind of powersupply and what wattage is it rated at? You may have to buy a decent (stronger) powersupply. I've seen this problem before and fixed it by installing a new powersupply

If it helps, NFS porsche was designed before windows XP came out. It needs a patch from one of the fan sites or microsoft to work.

this might sound a little dumb... but I don't think my processor supports hylerthreading.
At least there is no "HT" on the Intel logo...

I was going by your chipset and your ram. They seem to match an 800fsb P4 which would have HT. Win2K doesn't support HT. Perhaps you just don't have it enabled, though?

Does device manager show 2 processors? With HT on it will.
