I need your expertise guys. Here is my rig:

Intel Pentium IV 2.6C GHz, 800 FSB
MSI 865 PE neo2 Motherboard
Thermaltake P4 Spark 7 HSF
(2) Sticks Kingmax 256 MB DDR 400 memory, 512 MB total.
40 GB Seagate Barracuda Hard Disk
Inno3D GeForce FX 5200 128 MB DDR
Lite On CD-RW, (i forgot the speed, but it's the latest)
Lite On DVD 16x
300 Watts generic PSU
Thermaltake Smart Case Fan 2 with led

Softwares installed are:

MSI InfoView
PC Cillin 2002
Nero burning ROM 5
Power DVD Player XP
Adobe Photoshop 7.0
Macromedia Fireworks MX

Operating System:

Windows XP Pro with Plus! Build 5.01
Direct X 9.0

Here's my problem, with the bundled MSI mobo driver, at first, I only installed InfoView system identifier software from the bundled motherboard driver cd, under the MSI utilities. My newly assembled system was doing fine in about 2 days. After browsing the MSI bundled driver CD, i found out that there are other worthwhiles inside the MSI utilities folder, such as Core Center, a software utility which monitors real time system performance and settings such as current CPU speed, temp, FSB, etc. You can also adjust your FSB by increments with it on the spot w/out going to the BIOS. There is also this utility called Fuzzy Logic, w/c according to MSI features a smart, and safe dynamic overclocking. What it does is it automatically overclocks your system during execution of applications, then reverts back to default after. I did not installed it for I have no plan to overclock.

The problem popped-out when I installed Core Center utility. Everytime I open it, my Thermaltake P4 spark 7 fan would immediately stop! And then the Core Center Alarm will ring, it indicates zero RPM on my processor fan!

With my Thermaltake P4 Spark 7 HSF, I enabled the auto mode by placing the sensor between the processor and the HSF within.

Also, Do you guys also think that I should download and Install Windows XP Pro Service Pack 1, specially with my old Windows XP Pro with Plus! version?

I am based here in the Philippines and I know you guys here at Anandtech can easily help me. Thanks a lot!

It would be most likely that the MSI utility is shutting off the voltage to the fan header when you start it up. Check all the options in the software. It is probably intended to monitor fan speed and adjust it based on temperature needs.

There's also plenty of other software that will work just as well. Motherboard Monitor is the most popular for monitoring temperatures, voltage, and fans.

Downloading the updates to Windows is in most cases recommended. It's usually a good idea to wait before installing any that have just come out, to see if anyone reports problems. Two of the more recent patches have caused performance problems for many people until Microsoft fixed them.

Lord Evermore,

Thanks, I also believe the conflict is between Thermaltake's Spark 7 HSF Auto-Sensor ability and MSI's Core Center own CPU fan and temperature. I will try to put the Spark 7 HSF on full mode @ 6000 RPM, I will disable the auto-heat sensor and hopes that Core Center works and my fan will not stop. Ill be back for details.
