MSI BXMASTER - can on-board Promise ATA66 BIOS be updated?

I downloaded the latest BIOS revision from the Promise website, but after running their utility which updates the BIOS, I was informed that it does not work on on-the-motherboard controllers. Argh.

Anyone know of an alternate method?

Thanks.

I have run the BXMaster also, as a matter of fact, I still have the board in the box here, I had the same prob with it, & also the cdrom didn't let me initiate the drivers for ata66 off the main install prompt, and I had to search the cd for the drivers!!! Nice board, but along with all boards, a few minor glitches....

mastertech01, that would seem to make sense, however, I have updated the motherboard BIOS many times and never seen the Promise ATA66 BIOS revision change (I believe it is 1.15).

Do you have this board? If so, what version Promise BIOS does your board have?

That kinda sucks that we have to depend on Microstar to incorporate the latest Promise BIOS into the motherboard BIOS.

I no longer have my Master, but Big Lar still has one around..PM him or email him..Im sure he would be glad to help ..

Yes, its a shame you cant update via the standard bios, but it is integrated with the onboard chipset of the motherboard and also Promise wont support it because it is an OEM product made avaliable cheap to the mobo manufacturer. Its up to MSI to decide whether or not to update or if it needs updating unfortunately. I believe you can still use the latest drivers from Promise however.
