OK, I have a MSI BX Master mobo. I have been using it for about 3 months. Today when I tried to boot up and got to the "Detecting hard disk screen on the Promise ATA/66 channel", it said that the Ultra 66 BIOS ISN"T installed and my PC wasn't able to boot. SO, I changed my HD back to the UDMA/33 channel and my PC boots fine but that "Ultra 66 BIOS not installed" message still there.

Then, I got to my Device Manager (Win98SE) and saw a yellow exclaimation mark beside my onboard Promise ATA/66 controller........I don't know what to do now........Is my onboard controller chip passed away????

Thanks in advance!

So you had a hard drive on the ATA/66 connector before and it worked fine? And just now it didn't boot up all of the sudden?
The reason I am asking is that I just got my board yesterday (BXMASTER as well), but I don't have any ATA/66 devices. I looked around on the internet and found that if you don't have any devices connected to the ATA/66 controller then you will get the BIOS failure and the yellow exlamation point in the device manager. This is not a problem since nothing is connected to the controler.
But if you had something connected to it already then I really don't know why it just didn't boot up. Try reconnecting it again and playing with the cables, that works for me sometimes:)

Good luck.

Yep, my Fijitsu ATA/66 HD was on the Promise channel but it worked just fine until today!!!!! I got to that detecting ATA/66 hard disks screen and saw "Ultra 66 BIOS not installed" and my PC, therefore, unbootable:(

Right now, I have nothing on the Promise channel and my HD is backed to the UDMA/33 channel...............Anyone?????
