Hello again, I hadn't been around for a while since I got everything up and running. Anyhow, I have a question I hope you can answer: Which BIOS version for my MSI Turbo-R do I need to be able to change my mulitplier to a lower number?

Now, I remember from way back that the 1.0Beta16 was the one to use - it allowed you to set say a 7.5 multiplier for example on a 10*100 Athlon (like mine). You could do that and then have the jumper moved to the 133 slot instead of the 100 side. Of course when you booted you got the 7.5*133 for a good performance boost.

The problem was in the multipliers though. While 6 was 6, 6.5 was 6.5, but then 7 in the BIOS was actually an 11 when it booted. Remember? The whole thing was silly, but the 7 - 9 range was completely unusable. We figured out from a few people a trick for pulling the power during startup, right after it was booting for the first time after you set the multiplier lower in the BIOS. But - that never worked for me, no matter how many nights I tried it.

So I'm looking for a later version that will actually work. I've just flashed to the latest version from their site, but it's lowest option is the 10 that the processor is at. Does anyone know the real differences between the versions? Is that old 1.0beta16 the only one to offer different multipliers?

Any other ideas?

Only the overclocker's BIOS has the option for low multipliers I think... those
haven't been updated in a while.

The latest (2.9 and up) BIOS' have 4-way memory interleave... your choice.

That's what I was afraid of...

So the end answer really was - don't get this board with an old Athlon and expect much?

I see the 133's at 1.4 are only about $100 now... rats, I was hoping to hold off longer than this.

Anyone else OC'ing an MSI Turbo or what?
