Trying to wade through MSI's supported list was tedious, thought I might print it out but at 76 pages... no. All I want is to run memory at 3600 with CL of16 to 18, don't plan to overclock the CPU beyond what PBO (or whatever) will do.

Any suggestions from people using this CPU/mobo combo (or similar)?

Thanks.

After further review, it appears that I might be better off with a frequency of 3200 and a CL of 14. Or it could be that I'm just overthinking the whole thing and I should just buy some RAM and be done with it.

Hans is right, within reason. But if you want the extra performance, getting 3200 cl14 and making certain the modules are dual rank, will be a great pick.

Personally, not being a competitive or high refresh gamer; I use cheap 3600 cl18 in all my builds now.

There are good 3600 CL16 and 3200 CL14 kits available.

I have two of these kits in my 3970x build:

And two of these in my 5950x build:

I previously had the 3600 kit in the Threadripper system and swapped it for the 3200. Didn't change the XMP settings so it kept the old timings and has run for a year at the higher speeds, but looser timings. There are non-RGB kits with the same timings.
