Save up for a 260X or better. Dual Graphics 250X is a bad value unless it's literally the only choice you have.

Overclockers did a dual grahics test and if you already have an APU is a step in the right direction.
http://www.overclockers.com/testing-amd-kaveri-apu-dual-graphics-performance

they used the R7 250, which is a 384SPs card (but much higher clock than the APU, so apart from memory performance it's comparable), while the r7 250x is a 640SPs card also with much higher clocks, and it's also an older GPU, r7 250x = 7770.

I don't even know if they enabled driver support for "dual graphics" with anything other than the 240 and 250 (non X) for Kaveri, and if they did I think it's not a good solution, the difference between the kaveri IGP and 250x(7770) is very significant, and probably the gain over the 7770 alone is going to be small, and CF can add problems to the experience, my guess is that it's probably not worth it, just go with a faster card with no support for dual graphics, like the 260x the price difference is normally small anyway

i'm only wanting dual graphics not cfx.

I'm not entirely clear on the question. You want two graphics cards, but will not be using them together? Or a single graphics card for running two monitors/2 games?

Regardless, a 250X is nearly bottom of the barrel. Not sure where you live, but 260's and 265's may be found for nearly the same price and are much faster.

I assumed he had an APU and was looking for a descrete graphics card to add to it. He can then go into Catalyst Control Center and enable dual graphics, see my post above with the link.

get the used r7 240/250 DDR3 version for <50$
In dual graphics it is faster than GDDR5:

Its better to have one more powerful card. Dual graphics may not work properly in some titles without updating drivers. In those cases dual graphics will fall behind. Most AAA titles are supported thou..

For <50$ you can't get anything better.

HBM should change things a bit, enabling dual graphics with much more powerful cards. Having an IGP with performance of 260X and being able to upgrade it later with comparable gfx card is a neat idea for extending desktop's life.
