MSI Afterburner resets after a short period

Hey everyone,

I'm using afterburner to overclock my 470 and I bind stock clocks to F8 and OC'd clocks (785/1570/1875@1075 mV) to F9. When I play a game however and alt tab out, almost every time it has reset back to stock. It will last a few minutes maybe even a half hour but eventually resets every time.

Any ideas?

Usually when this happens it is because the video card is having errors and is resetting itself. It probably means your OC is not stable.

Thats what I figured as well but I just tried setting the core clock 1 mhz higher than stock and it still reset... are there any programs besides afterburner worth trying? I remember EVGA precision being kind of lame..

A little trouble shooting.

Unistall Afterburner.
reinstall videocard drivers
Do the alt /tab in game at stock levels without afterburner installed.

Does it reset after a half hour?

If not, try to install afterburner (do not touch the settings) do the alt/tab in game, did it reset after a half hour?

If not, try to overclock the card WITHOUT voltage to its highest stable level, now lower it 25mhz.
Does it reset?

If not, go for the maximum overclock, with voltage, now lower it 25mhz.
do the alt/tab in game. did it reset?

This should isolate your problem.
