The first board is a FM2+ board so a 8350, AM3+, will not even fit.

If you are running a single video card then most 970/990 boards will work fine. Just get one that has heatsinks on the VRM, esp if you plan to over clock.

Thank you, and that was part of my question I was not sure of the socket types.

Yep 8350 is a AM3+. The 8320 is cheaper and usually overclocks the same as the 8350 if you want to save a few bucks.

But look for 970 or 990 chipset boards. Just get one that has a heatsink on the VRM.

990 chipset is better..

Crosshair iV also works with 8350s

..so does this board: http://www.ebay.com/itm/ASUSTeK-COM...525501099?pt=Motherboards&hash=item259bab8cab

..and I found one for $50 oops..$65 with shipping.

That 8+2 digital setup is a lot better than the 4+2 that's on m5a97

If you haven't bought the 8350 already then why not go for the 8320E or the 8370E, since they're slightly better than the 8350 especially considering the power consumption & overclocking headroom.

the asus rog mobo`s using the 990 chipset are the better choice in my op plus the fact that they can take up to a 220 watt cpu from mem or around there ..i also think u would be better of with the 8350....the 8320 is a cheap alternative but i found them to be very finicky when over clocked...
