This problem started fairly recently, but the user is a compulsive liar and i can't get any clear info about when it started and what she was doing from her.
the problem is the wireless connection is extremely slow. pages time out, lose formatting during loading, etc.
the computer runs windows 7, connects through a cheap airlink wireless router set up as a bridge to another router, which handles DHCP and such. this part has not changed in around a year.
i have other wireless toys on the network which seem to have no trouble connecting and getting good bandwidth.
windows 7 reports that signal strength is excellent, but it obviously is not.
i've tried relocating the laptop closer to the router, no effect.
i tried rebooting the router, no effect.
i tried using ubuntu 10.10 on a livecd (usb stick), and it gets decent bandwidth and can browse the internet with no problem. so the problem is related to the software on her computer, as far as i can tell.
this is a recent problem, and the computer has worked in the past without this issue. i'm running a generic virus scan atm, and then i'll be updating wireless drivers. any other things i should check while i'm at it?
