I have an older board listed in title. I need to upgrade the processor on it or just buy another motherboard. I wanted to try and upgrade first. Problem is that my bios just shows V10.0 When I go to the support website it lists all the bios with an A.1 - A.6. It doesn't show anything about V.10.0. I am concerned about these being the correct bios for the motherboard. I called MSI tech support and lets just say they had no idea what I was talking about and recommended that I not flash the bios. Which wasn't much help. Anybody ran into this before? Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

Yes, A.6 is the latest bios for your board. What cpu do you have now? What did you want to upgrade to?

Right now it has a Athlon II X4 630 Propus. I was thinking of a 965 Deneb. You have any other suggestions? I hesitate to throw alot of money at the board. It is old.

Thanks for the help.

I don't see why the PII x4 965 BE wouldn't work on your board. I just checked and the board supports your cpu as of BIOS A.0.

so you are fine.

This bios version of V10.0 has me confused. You think V10.0 and Bios A.0 are the same? Or are you saying I need to flash the bios to at lease A.0?

Thanks for your time.

While your motherboard technically supports 125Watt cpu's, i wouldn't risk it. Stick with 95Watt cpu's. Your board has no heatsinks on the mosfets or vrm's. Go with maybe an FX-6300 or an FX8320E cpu as an upgrade.

if you are not sure of your BIOS version, you could install cpu-z. and check the board tab there. However, 10.0 is probably the same as A.0 since A=10 in Hexadecimal.

I say try cpu-z.

Sometimes MSI changes the way it labels it's Bios updates. My bios ended up with 1.F or something, and then all of the new updates have been 1.0 - 1.4 when realistically the latest would be 1.10.

If you're sure of your motherboard model I wouldn't be too worried about it.

I went ahead and flashed with the A.6 Bios. Everything went fine and now Cpuz shows the Bios at 10.6.....So there you go. Now I'm on the hunt on Ebay for a FX-6300, Thanks for the help guys. Not sure why MSI tech support couldn't help me.

Thanks again
