Hi I am looking for advice mainly on the settings on my new MOBO.
I have an MSI 925X Neo Platinum. Reading through the manual it doesn't really explain how each setting effects the running of the PC. I will go through them with the different settings and would be most grateful for any advice.
ADVANCED CHIPSET FEATURES
DRAM Timing Selectable : Manual - Auto By SPD - Turbo - Ultra
CAS Latency Time : Auto - 2 - 2.5 - 3
DRAM RAS# to CAS# Delay : Auto - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5
DRAM RAS# Precharge : Auto - 2 -3 - 4 -5
Precharge delay (tRAS):Auto - 4 - 5 -6 -7 - 8 -9 -10 -11 - 12 -13 -14-15
System BIOS Cacheable : Enabled - Disabled
Video BIOS Cacheable : Enabled - Disabled
PCI Express Root Port Function > Sub Menu Ports 1/2/3/4
Port 1 : the controller of onboard Giga Lan
Port 2 : Reserved
Port 3 : the controller of PCI-E slot 3 (PCI_E2)
Port 4 : the controller of PCI-E slot 4 (PCI_E3)
The options are Enabled - Disabled - Auto
Also how does the overclocking work. As a rule I play my games on the Playstation but would like my new build to play games at a decent rate.
The options for this feature are
Disabled
Private
Sergeant
Captain
Colonel
General
Commander
What are the results if I select one of these functions
Adjust CPU Ratio from 8 to 50 ??
CPU Voltage : Default - 1.18v - 1.49v
I think these values are for when you overclock but not sure.
