Been running a 3200+ A64 on a MSI 8KN Neo FSR for only a couple of days now and the system has stopped during the POST two times already. Both times the screen indicates the drives are being detected properly but there's no indication of what's wrong. Rebooting the system fixed it both times.

Could it be the board doesn't like the memory? Using Mushkin 3200 - deceint grade, not the cheapest. Power supply is deceint also, antec 400 Watt'er.

Also, have the latest official BIOS installed.

Any suggestions. Thanks.

Ed

ps: where is the best place to find info on the MSI board? Anandtech's Motherboard forum only goes back a few pages and I can't find very much info here.

Antec PP-412 400 Watt power supply
8KN Neo FSR - latest bios not sure the number 1.5?
ATI 8500 video card
2 x 256 MB Mushkin 3200 #991050
Win XP w/SP2
Western Digital SATA 74 GB Raptor
A64 3200+ 512 MB Processor w/stock heatsink
Santa Cruise sound card
Leadtek TV capture card (added after incidents)

BIOS settings are mostly default settings with memory timing set to "auto".

Anything else that would be helpful to know?

Thanks.

If you haven't already done so, you might want to bump the memory voltage off of Auto and up to 2.6-2.7 volts. PC3200 sometimes isn't quite satisfied with 2.5 volts which is what a lot of boards default to.

The PP-412 has an ATX12V cable, right? I doubt the system would even try to run without one, but I could use a little help remembering if it's the 412 or the 403 that has no ATX12V cable.

Antec PP-412 is the one with the 12 V connector:) 12 V rating is only 18 A though:( It's hard for me to imagine this PS is inadequate:confused:

I'll try bumping up the RAM voltage as mechBgon suggested and see what happens.

Oh, and thanks for the heads up about the MSI forum. I should have known.

Thanks.
