I'm building a system for a client and I "assured" him that "most likely" the sempron 140 would unlock to a dual core. So far no such luck. I have tried "Core unlock" and a few other things in the bios. Is there a guide for this? Will it not work period?

Oh and I suggested this mobo because he needed 3 to 4 PCI-e slots.

Wow, was that ever a mistake. Don't ever assume that core unlocking is guaranteed. Could your client not afford a real dual-core?

I didn't assure him 100%, but I said it was most likely probable. If you tell me is NOT possible and only possible on 710 or 750 south bridge, i'll say my lesson is learned. But is it at least possible?

selling bitcoin rigs are we?

Sempron 140s have terrible unlocking rates. I have had only 1 of 9(?) unlock.

Also unlocking the cores just increases the power consumption of the rig, a Sempron 140 is plenty for 3 video cards mining (haven't tried with 4)

Really? This is the only failed one i've ever seen, but I've built plenty using 710/750 boards only which have the whole ACC feature and the mobos cost like $50 each and their whole draw is making a whole system for $200 or less.. thus unlocking a 2nd core makes it a "killer deal." This is my first 890x rig i've ever built. Do you think its the cpu or the chipset? I was hoping/thinking it was only the chipset, and there was a missing step or something i was doing wrong. I guess maybe its just the cpu?
