MSI 865 PE neo2 PFISR problems

RMA'd first board after it was up and running for almost 2 months. Original board shorted out and almost caught fire. A small circuit at top of board near the mouse and keyboard inputs got so hot it melted the plastic and almost caught fire.

Installed replacement board, went into bios but when system rebooted but I got no video signal to monitor. I checked all hardware (tried another vid card to remove that possibility but a replacement card didn't work either). Checked all other components were seated and connected properly but still nothing. Next tried clearing the CMOS which worked briefly. I got a video signal, went back into bios and reset bios. Everything worked, got to windows, but after ~ 20 minutes system locked up.

Rebooted and again had no video signal to monitor. Rechecked all components and connections but no change so I again cleared CMOS, again got into bios and reset it. Again this worked. I got to windows, but it was late so I shut down comp. Next morning tried to start up comp and again no video signal to monitor.

Haven't run into this prob before and am stumped. Could replacement board have a bad battery? Could it be something else? Went through a rround with tech support and got same result. Afraid I may have to RMA this board again, but frankly I am very wary of this board now. Any advice suggestions? Thanks.

Comp isn't overheated (avg CPU temp approx 42C, 55C under heavy load as when playing Doom 3. Sys temp several degrees lower)

I went through the rma process 4 times before they sent me a brand new board (with an old sis 655 max). I was sent an 865pe neo2 LS, and it works great, but no onboard video (if you need it). I would call msi's rma dept and request a brand new board. They might send you a different model this time.

For any who saw this and had an interest or similar prob, it's been resolved. First board shorted out and second board was grounding itself out. I had it tested at a local comp store. So RMA'd 2nd board and got a new one. New one works but for some reason my CPU is running 15 degrees Celcius hotter than it did before. So I have a new problem to keep me busy ;-)
