Anyone got one?
Any problem with running FSB 133MHZ?
Which driver should install run Promise as a ata133, not raid?
Thanks.

I have one. I have only been able to get the FSB up to 130. I was expecting the RAM to be at 163, but it turns out, after 117, the ratios are reset back to 1:1 for the RAM. I know run at 117 which is the fasted spot I have seen. Also, I don't know how to run drives on the raid controller without using raid, I would like to myself, so email if you figure it out.

Hmmm, that's interesting.
I'm trying to up by 2mhz. I'm at 114, vcore 1.55, cpu temp 45C, but probably much higher.

Well Promise.
It's different from my previous Asus.
Asus lets you plug the hd on the controller, and boot up, install os. Just like IDE port. MSI's bios driver is different.
But you might install OS on IDE channel, then move the hd to Promise, I heard it'll work.
If you have a hd wiht os on IDE, and drives on promise without raid setup, start the os and install ata133 driver
from IDE - Promise - ATA133 folder on the cd manually. ATA100 driver also works.

I can't even get it to work at 110MHz FSB... well I can, but eventually after a few reboots it hangs right before it boots the bios and goes back to 100Mhz :( WTF?

Using the v3.2 bios.

Yeah, got my 1.6A running on FSB 133Mhz - very stable so far. Unable to get it past 133 as of yet, but I haven't tried to tweak to many things, just tried upping to vcore to 1.65 with no luck.

I have this board with a 1.6a. I am running 133fsb with voltage at 1.5 (sandra and bios indicate 1.44-1.46). Ran Prime95 48 hrs no errors. If I bump voltage to 1.65 it will post at 145fsb. Haven't had a chance to run anything but Windows at 145. I love this board. Memory is 1 512 Corsair xms2400 at 2-3-3-5.

My only bitch about the board is how it slings around IRQ's but no conflicts as of yet. I had to add/remove things a few times to get the vid card on IRQ11 by itself.

To enable ATA 133/raid 0 w/1 harddrive do this:

1. Set HD master on IDE1or2 and load OS and drivers. (RAID being disabled in bios)
2. Reboot and enable RAID in bios and load driver if it didn't let you load it initaially when loading OS. Sometimes it will show in DEVICE MANAGER with a yellow exclamation point if you load OS with RAID disable.
3. Shut Down.
4. Move HD to IDE3 or 4.
5. Start Up. The Promise controller quicksetup will come up. Setup a RAID 0 "performance" setup, stripe w/1 drive and let her rip!

I've got a Maxtor d740xl running this way. It is smokin'. (in a good way)

Man, where this thread have been!

Pauli, or 308.
Let me know how you can run with fsb133.
Did you change the bios settings after you loaded High Performance, or Bios setup defaults?
I can't even raise the fsb to 105mhz without loading High Performance setup defaults first, but still can't over 127mhz.
It should not be a memory problem, since memory is running 1:1 with fsb, also agp under 65, pci under 33.
By the way, I have Crucial2100.

Draco.
Try 125mhz, since the memory, pci and agp are under the spec from this fsb.

Load standard Bios setup and disable the spread spectrum in the bios, you should be able to do some serious ocing!

As for the onboard raid you can use ide 3 to skip the raid, two hd's and it goes raid array :)

I have my 1.6a running at 16X145 (1.65 vcore set in bios, reports 1.6 or so) right now for three hours using Prime95. Using bios version 3.2, and I haven't bothered to check temps since this board is flaky with temp/voltage reports, and it's unlikely the cpu will die with the throttle down feature. I have one Crucial 512 stick with Infineon chips, ram set for 266mhz bus, and everything is set to default voltage except for the cpu. I only have a Radeon 8500 retail at default speeds, and an Intel 10/100 adapter, installed in this machine since it's my gaming/overclocking computer.

Edit: I ran Prime95 torture test for 13 hours straight with no errors. I agree with all the other people who are calling the 1.6a the new Celeron 300a.

AT 133mhz, it's no go.
Hang little bit, and boots up with the last successful setting, which is at 127mhz.
CPU TEMP 48C, Vcore 1.55v.

bluesky- yes I am running at 133FSB. Experimented a bit yesterday and got it up to 137Mhz FSB stable but became unstable at 138 and wouldn't boot at 140. Still fooling around with voltages...

Prime95 stops in 5 min. at 127mhz.:disgust:
I don't know what is the Problem.
Was thinking about getting a pc2700 stick but it's going to be a waste.
My memory is running along side with fsb.:|

hey guys I have a msi 845 aru also, but in my bios ( ver 3.0) the max voltage it lets me select is 1.65v.... isn't this board supposed to let you go to 1.85v ?

I had my friend's MSI running at 149 FSB with a 1.6A. I think I used typical BIOS settings from "load setup defaults" with a few changes. The vcore is also set to 1.65V and reported at ~1.6V. I don't know what's going on with the vcore voltage monitor, but my ASUS P4B266 is also reporting the vcore at almost 0.05V below what I specified in BIOS.

bluesky the temp is a bit high, but then again I never really trusted it on my board....

To all...

I dumped this board for sis645 asus p4s333 board...why I wish I could have all the features, I dont miss the need to do the wire trick to stop reboot issues, the host of crappy bundled software that didn't work with the northwood, the funky temp readings, the wacky undervoltage....

Overall it didn't perform much different then current board...max is still max...I did 133 on msi board at 1.65v and now I am at the same on the asus board...I get it to post and run at 2.52ghz with asus board but I don't like the 1.7v to get it....maybe if someone finds this is a safe voltage to run, I will run it someday....

ALSOOOOO...the memory ratio of 1:1 locked sometime after 125 sucks....I could only get 2100 in sandra at 133fsb on msi board....now I get 2525 with a 4:5 multpler to run my pc2700 at 333mhz...likely 3:4 support to follow so I can run at 355mhz and 2700's in sandra....memory bandwidth is reason enough for me to change boards...

LuckyStrike - what does "SpreadSpectrum" do and how will it help with OC'ing.
