Hi,
I have a MSI 8400 GS TD 256E card in my desktop, running XP, IP35 Pro MB, Q6600, 2GB RAM. PSU is a Corsair HX-620.
I do not play games, just do internet, photoediting.

Lately, my graphics card keeps on switching on and off, and its driving me crazy. All of a sudden the screen goes black and I get a 'no digital signal' on my LCD. Then suddenly it flickers on again. I have checked to see if the fan is running, pulled it out and reinserted it, pulled out the monitor cable and re-inserted it, and this has not solved the problem. I thought it may be heating up, but it also happens soon after I start it up. It was doing this off and on for a long time, but now its happening so frequently that its interfering with my work.

Is there a software fix or do I just have a junk card (its still in warranty)?

Any help would be appreciated,

Javid (going nuts)

I am glad to report I have fixed the problem. I removed the heatsink, scraped off the thermal compound (the permanent type), applied a drop of AC MX-2 and re-attached the heatsink.

GPU-Z reports temps of 53-54 C, and the card is no longer switching off and on.

The problem was due to overheating in my case. Many thanks, especially to TweakBoy.
