I have the MSI 831, which is the replacement for the 815. Same specs, 64mb 5ns DDR memory, GeForce2 Pro core, with tv out. I love this card, 2d is good at 1280x960 on my 21" Trinitron, and the 3d is awesome. This'll hold me out till the Crush chipsets come with integrated GeForce3's ;)

What Boogak said ... awesome card. Giants looked great, so did Sacrifice, Evolva looked alright but man was it boring. It's a good little card that's stable, fast and o/c's fairly well. My card hits near Ultra stock levels.

I have a pretty similar machine as you (bh6, 1ghz, win98). I tried the 12.40's and got stable performance but low 2001 3dmarks. I uninstalled and tried 10.80's and got much better 3d performance. It didn't seem unstable, but I got a couple unexplained ramdom lockups in games that I attributed to buggy software/os or o/c'd video card and processor.

Click on PAQY in my sig to see my rig. I've got a similar machine to you as well, a pIII 600@800 on a BX6-2 mobo. I'm using the 10.80 drivers.

Hey nj, where'd you pick up your 900mhz cpu at and for how much? I'm considering doing one last upgrade to my venerable BX6-2 before moving on to an Athlon system.

As for good coolers, I'm assuming you've got a FCPGA processor. Try out the PEP66 kits from 2cooltek, I hear they're awesome.

I got my 900mhz from hitechcafe.com. From time to time they'll magically reduce the price from 249.00 to 159.00. This business is pretty good to deal with.

You can also get it at TigerDirect.com, which is less than fun to deal with. However, barring anything going wrong, 179.99 is a pretty good price.

You'll have to make the rounds at the online surplus computer stores to find this chip somewhere else. They sell out pretty quick. I know compgeeks.com had them for awhile at 209.00.

As for THIS cooler, do you think it'll fit in my mobo (bh6) AND leave room for all three dimms? I have a iwill slocket. Damn that thing is huge!

I have the Pro 64mb MSI 831 (815 replacement I guess) and it's pretty nice card. The 2d is not as good as my Voodoo 3 which kinda bummed me out but it's not that bad . It's a very fast card and it overclocks to almost Ultra levels...240 core/440 memory.

Yes, I get 230/460 (gpu core/mem) out of the box. I'm thinking of adding a blorb and mem heatsinks, but i'm not sure if it's worth my hard earned 20-30 bucks.

nj, nice OC.What progy are you using to OC? PowerStrip won't let me do anything between 444 & 458 just defaults back to 444 or up to 458 & I get artifacts at 458.

Save your 20-30 bucks I don't think the little extra mhz will show much in games.

I use Nvmax. I was having a lot of problems with 3dturbo 2001. I think it was because I had a MSI 815 (GTS) in there before. I d/l'd Nvmax and man it's a nice program. Quick and easy o/c's. I just tried 3dmark2001 again: 3312. Dang, I think it's my 112 FSB that's holding me back.

Oh and thanks Toro, I guess I'll hold off on mem h/s's. Maybe i'll use the money to replace my 64mb stick with a crucial 128mb. Heh. cuz you know I'm sure I'll see the difference from 320mb to 384mb ;)

How is the TV output quality? Can I play a DVD to the TV and still use my computer at the same time?
