I am returning this MB for the second time. When it boots up all seems fine until Windows does a restart because it identifies new components then on restart the MB fails. The first time all the LEDs stayed red. Sent MB back. This time I get past CPU initialization then the power dies as if there is a short.

Could it be that my hard drives are causing a mb failure? I am trying to boot from an older generation ide drive. I have a new ATA drive on order.

I am sending MB back again. Since LEDs indicate internal MB error.

I don't know if this would cause an internal MB failure, but the AMD board require special drivers. Either way, a fresh install of an OS should be the best thing to do when running on a completely different platform.

If you want to keep your apps, you may want to consider an "upgrade" of your OS first, just to see if this is the issue. Also, can you boot off a CD?

Thanks for response, but I can't do anything now as the MB won't finish POST. Am returning it tomorrow.

sorry to hear that about your mobo, ihave had mine running for about three weeks.no probs at all.nice mobo too...

Actually when I first got this mobo, I thought it was busted 'cos it didn't POST. Same thing on my friend's system. Turned out that at least our MSI K7Tpros required DIMMs to be attached *very* carefully, if they were slanted at all weren't reckognized. You might want to double-check your DIMM connections before sending back the mobo.
