My FX-6300 wont even POST in the board. Model MS-7596 with latest BIOS rev. and its 95Watt.

Suggestions? Already flashed to latest BIOS... is there something else I can do? How is this not compatable?

your board does not support that CPU.

its not listed under supported cpus.

perhaps they could build you a custom BIOS? sort of a beta BIOS. I had them do that for an odd board they made because it had issues detecting DDR2 speeds.

How did you flash the BIOS with non-working CPU?
I just recently got the FX6300. I have a Phenom xII 555 (and no, the other 2 cores didn't work...) so I was swapping that one in and out as needed... not ideal but ut worked

I was curious about this as well, or a BIOS from the FX revision, but I have no experience with that.

FX-Series Vishera FD6300WMW6KHK FX-6300 Since BIOS v3.6
I think you're looking at the FX revision of the board (I was...) I have rev 1.2 which only supports phenom x6.

Anyway, I Already ordered a new board. When I looked for the supported CPUs I must not have realized that it was the FX board. Really frustrating but its my own fault. I suppose it would be really stupid to attempt flashing an FX BIOS?...

This is the mobo I ordered:

MSI 970A-G46 AM3+ AMD 970

just an FYI:

Gigabyte makes a similar board to your original that supports FX cpus.

GA-78LMT-USB3 plus it does 125w cpus and it supports 32gb of ram.

just saying :)

Yeah, the non-FX version of that board is already in the archives. Didn't know there was a difference.

me either- till it didn't work. I didn't really look that closely either. Its frustrating that a socket AM3+ mobo doesn't work with a socket AM3+ CPU even with a bios update...

Lesson learned I guess. Thanks for everyones help!
