MSI 6600GT woes...

Well, yesterday morning while playing BF2, I noticed artifacts. I said to myself that there may be something wrong and that it's overheating. So, I checked the temperature and to my surprise...the card was running at 98 degrees CELCIUS. I shut the computer off, and removed the side panel to find that the fan on my MSI 6600GT had not been spinning and it was actually hanging outside of the video card itself. And the MSI sticker that's glued onto the centre of the fan I assume melted off due to the intense heat and lodged itself in one of my PCI slots...hooray. I was just posting to ask what possibly could have caused this. Overusing it? Faulty hardware? And is it a very common problem with MSI or any other companies?

Thanks in advance...

No.

And may I add that 2D and 3D are still achievable, but the temperatures skyrocket within 2 minutes of turning the computer on.
