Hi,

I know that the SiS648 is already a heavily discussed issue, but I wanted to know if more people had tested the MSI 648 Max? It said in the review here that it had some issues with DDR400 (minor, but still there), but some sites ( like this one ) seem to report that they have not had any problems at all. It is however the first time I have heard of this time (found a link from another site). Would it be that they were just not as thourough in their tests? Or could it be a compatibility problem with the Twinmos RAM that was used here, as opposed to the Mushkin that was used in the GigaByte 8SG667 review?

Has anyone had good experience with this board? Possibly with CAS2 DDR400 memory. Thanks a lot for any information.

Just to clarify, the Gigabyte 8SG667 worked perfectly with Mushkin CAS2.5 DDR400, Twinmos CAS2.5 DDR400, and Corsair CAS2.0 DDR400.

After I posted my review of MSI 648 Max-F, I got in a couple other brands of DDR400. I decided to do some testing since the 648 Max-F system was still up and running. It experienced the same issues with Mushkin and Corsair DDR400 as it did with Twinmos. Honestly, I haven't come across a board that works significantly well with only one particular brand of DDR400 and not another, so my results shouldn't be too surprising.
