Hi, i hav an msi 6337 p3700 w/512k ram, and it wont post on startup. it pauses for a few secs, screen flashes then goes into alarm mode.
I cant even enter bios by holding del key(or any other)
I am overclocking it-I have been running it at fsb 137mhz(974mhz)-stock voltage for 3weeks no problem so I upped it to 138 today, and booted no problem.
Ran a bunch of tests and AOK-one thing-menu sound was funny so I thought maybe it needed more voltage so i adjusted vcore up.05 to 1.7 from 1.65.
reboot and boom-alarms that sound like "ambulance". My supplier is on the west coast so I cannot reach them til noon.
Thanks in advance if you can help

Check out this thread. Your board hasa built in alarm for CPU overheating and fan tach signal so that would be my guess. Reviews say the board can be overclocked to +1.8 so 1.7 shouldn't be a problem. Do you have a better cooler you use to see if that would help?

You may be onto something because at the same time I modified the corev, i was looking at the bois helth status-while I was in there I enabled shutdown at 6o degress were as previosly it was diabled.
how ever bios temp said cpu was 36 degs, pc alert (MSI soft) said 37 degs and sandra said 34. I recd no reading with MothBoardMon.
Perhaps it is getting no reading/wrong reading therefore shutting down?
How can i get in to bios and disable?

I agree with Accipiter, it sounds like you don't have your hs/f hooked up to the correct connection on your mobo. Does your hs/f have 3 wires on it? If it doesn't, your bios doesn't see the fan and is shutting down to save your cpu.

the fan is a gold orb connected to cpufan header, and power supply has a huge fan. thats it-no other fan on board.
can i not get into bios and change it back to disable this shutdown feature?
I have had NO heat problems at all to date.

What was the answer to Rusty's question on the fan wiring? If you only have two wires then I'd say Flash the bios and hope it defaults to not detecting your tach. Do you have a mobo book to reference?
What do you think Rusty?

Well I just put the cpu fan on the sys fan (therefore no cpu fan) and it didnt change a thing(i put the cpu fan back!)
also the video bios doesnt come up at all since this started
(used to come up first)

Can you borrow another chip to test in it? Try resetting you CMOS and getting into the BIOS setup- load "fail safe", or defualt (what ever) and run it @ stock 7x100 till you trouble shoot. You're in the "process of elimination mode now so start with the nickle fix and work your way up" Good luck & maybe post your findings so we know.

Hi prob solved, nothing to do with voltage or fsb speed
was this shutdown at temp feature I enabled ( needs a special/seperate unit) so I just cleared bios and I am up and running No probs, Thanks to all that replied! At a nice safe 933mhz I might ad
