Hello Group
I am hoping that someone here can recommend a GPU fan for my MSI N470GTX.

My card is about 6 months old and now while playing Crysis and Warhead at max detail (16x12) my card is over heating and my computer then just shuts down.

So instead of messing around with MSI I thought I would try a GPU fan...

thanks for looking, Jake

Check to see if the HSF is well seated by watching the temps respond to load, like a benchmark or timedemo or something. If they jump up really fast, your HSF might not be seated correctly.

Arctic cooling though is like the king of GPU fans in my mind. Their Rev 2 Accellero plus a 120mm fan is pretty much unbeatable.

Thanks guys, I just ordered the ZALMAN VF3000F, from the EGG...

Let us know how the install/ results go. That cooler is beastly.
I like the ram/vrm cooling 'plate' I see in the picture.

I'm glad I got it, however, it's just wrong that a lot of hi-end cards need after-market cooling....it's a bigggg rip off if you ask me.

They don't. There has to be some reason why the computer shuts down. N2gaming, have you logged temperatures? Maybe the fan speed isn't ramping up when it should? For instance, BITD I discovered that Nvidia System Tools would break the automatic fan setting, so if someone used it to overclock the GPU (for instance) then the fan would be stuck at whatever speed it was left at - which defaulted to 40% in GTX 200 series cards, causing overheating.

I'm surprised no one mentioned taking a can of air duster to the card before replacing the stock cooler.
