Getting a new video card and have decided to go with ati. Was looking at the MSI 3870 OC edition and wondering if anyone has had any experience with it.

or if you want to suggest me a beast card within a 150 - 230 price range than that would be nice to. Would really like a card that blows the hot air out the back but its not a deal breaker.

There are 8800GT's going for $180 ish (and less) AR all over the place... If you are patient you can catch a 8800GTS for 220....

Check out the hot deals forum

the msi OC 8800gt on newegg has a dual slot cooler, too. It's $25-$30 cheaper than tht 8800gts but probably won't overclock as well so ymmv.

if you're really stuck on ati then just get the cheapest 3870 you can. they all OC fine and it's not worth the extra $20-$30 for the factory-oc'd editions.

I wouldnt say a 8800gts is a lot faster than a hd3870oc but yes it is faster for most benchmarks ...just not by a ton...maybe 10-20% on some benches and some its actually slower than a 3870.

i don't think i've found anything yet with "OC" in the name that is worth the premium asked
save your 40+ bucks and get something you can overclock yourself

Recently I have seen some people get a good deal on the HIS 3870 from Newegg (not sure if it's still on), worth looking into, especially if you can snag the IceQ model.
