Here is an easy one,
Starting my friends computer, I revieve a lot of error messages. One is the Shell32 could not start. Antoher is MSGSRV32 GP in YDSXG.DRV. And then, after a while, Explorer GP in Explorer.exe. I found that the DRV is for the Yamaha sound card. Unfortunately, I can't even get into safe mode. Tried to go to "Step by step" command and load only essentials, no good. I even have pulled the sound card. Not letting me into normal mode or safe. Any ideas?

I have seen those kind of errors-usually on oc'ed systems. If your friends system is overclocked try resetting it to defaults. Good luck, I know how frustrating it can be.

You could try to access it with a 98 bootdisk. After it boots run scanreg at the command prompt. If this does not help you atleast should have access to the drive to save data or reinstall corupted files. Luck.
