MSG supposidly had been linked to headaches. FDA says it's pretty safe though, and the FDA in my opinion errs on the side of caution so I'm pretty sure it's safe. Just like aspartame - there are always naysayers but there are like 55,000 more deadly things you could be doing at any point in time than eating a funyon with a diet coke.

I prefer my MSG slightly chilled, and straight from the bottle; no glass necessary. 😉

Nothing useful to add. I'll be moving along, now.

I avoid it like the PLAGUE!

If you eat Chinese food, it's in there. Trust me. I LOVE Chinese food...MSG-Me, baby!

Not only Chinese food but almost any kind of processed food or sauce. Different names for MSG include enzyme modified blah blah, soy blah blah, protien blah blah, most types of flavorings (including chicken, beef, or pork), whey protien, etc etc. Very hard to find avoid if you start looking for it.

does soy sauce have msg?

i would guess so,at least in its more natural form. because it sure tastes like it.

there's no reason to fear msg unless you are known to be sensitive to it (like getting migraines from it)

never knew Funyuns had MSG.

*goes to buy some*

i have never had any problems with msg but i get some horrible loogies if i eat too many pringles that is about it though

i don't think it is harmful at all since it occurs naturally in so many things so i don't see any danger in watching how much msg i take in from

basically if you get headaches you should avoid it but if you don't than you really don't have anything to worry about how much you take in

Yes. Natuarally occurring, but depending on the brand they may be adding more.

i <3 soy sauce soo delicious 🙂 🙂 🙂

Can also be found in seaweed used in sushi, and the sushi rice flavoring too. And in some brands of sake.

I read the labels on EVERYTHING I eat. If a restaurant uses MSG I don't eat there. If I'm not sure, I ask them to read the labels on what THEY use.

I use to have Major headaches ALL the time, since I stopped eating MSG, I rarely get them anymore.

(Of course the down side is now my eyes are wrecked from reading all that small print...) 🙁

I have found that more and more places have stopped using it as of late though.

its probably in your head. if you eat american processed foods your getting plenty of msg. they hide it under different names in the ingredients list. stuff like parmesian cheese/tomatoes etc have loads of it. u cannot avoid it. it is natural
