MSDTC gives "illegal operation" on start, anyone know why?

Ever since I installed Morpheus, amongst other programs to download Mp3's, my computer has been graudually dieing. Internet Explorer keeps freezing and then asking me if i want to send an error report. I've deleted all the questionable programs, and run scandisk, but things just seem to be getting worse. I see that MSDTC is enabled to run on startup, anyone know what MSDTC even is?
-Thanks

MSDTC is Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator. I can't imagine why Morpheus would affect that service. This service is used in MTS/COM+ applications whereby a transaction to any supported database is distributed across platforms by way of a resource manager. MSDTC is just the composer of this process, so to speak.
