MSDN subscriptions and obtaining Windows Media Center Edition...

I just figured out who at work gets the MSDN subscription and I asked him if he has Media Center Edition so I could toy around with it some weekend at work. He handed me the whole stack of DVDs and told me where to put them back when I was done with them. WOW! There's a wealth of information in here, but no Media Center Edition. I was told that MSDN was the only way to get it short of buying a PC which includes it. Is this true? I was considering getting an MSDN subscription for our little computer enthusiast circle at home but not if the interesting stuff like this is left out... BTW, Tablet PC Edition is included... How would someone go about building a Tablet PC?

hmm. I didnt think theyd include tablet PC edition. Anyone know how to get media center, short of the usual sources... 🙂

I just read on betanews that the difference between TabletPC Edition and Media Center Edition is simply the key used. Crazy! Where does the MSDN subscriber legitimately get the key if only the Tablet PC Edition key is included?

I just read somewhere else that MSDN subscribers must download three CD images plus a fourth for Media Center Edition + 2004 upgrade. I don't have the login information, but would MS really provide the key WITH the download?!

For newer operating systems and office suites, microsoft issues individualized keys tied to your specific MSDN subscription. These keys are also only good for a limited number of activations. You get your keys by logging in to your account at msdn.microsoft.com.

Well, I just verified that it is included with Tablet PC Edition... I'll have to ask the guy if he can get me the 2004 upgrade disc image...

Toying around with this should be fun.

One more question: I know the initial versions did not support ATI cards, but now they do. When did this change, and, if it still refuses to support ATI cards, what are you supposed to do about it?

I got Media Edition and Tablet PC edition with my Voume Corporate license...of course I dont have a use for either.
