I'm looking to get vista asap for a new system build and don't want to wait until the end of Jan 2007 to get it. I came across the microsoft MSDN program. I hadn't heard of it before. It looks as if you can get a subscription for under $700 which gives you the ability to get MS operating systems for up to 10 computers. That seems like a good price if you have several computers that you need operating systems for.

On Amazon.com they have "Microsoft MSDN OS 2005 1 Year". It's $667.

My questions are:

1. Does this 2005 subscription allow you to get Vista now?
2. If yes, how do you use it to get vista?
3. And if you do get vista, can you use it for just 1 year?
4. What happens when the subscription is over in a year, Do you have to buy the subscription again or renew it to be able to continue to use the operating systems that you already installed?

Thanks.
Thanks.

MSDN is an annual subscription so if that really is an expired 2005 license it's useless.

If you have a current MSDN subscription then yes you can download Vista now. You download a 2.35 GB ISO, burn to DVD, request product keys from the MSDN server.

Your OS doesn't automatically stop working after 1 year but I don't know if you can re-activate it with a product key tied to an expired license. I have MSDN through work, renewed every year, so I've never needed to find out.

This seems like a risky way to get Vista 1 month early.
