MSCDEX doesn't work on a slave CDROM when paired up?

Have an HP9100 burner and a CDROM drive. Got this handy setup disk thats geared for the CDROM as the master. Only its not. I've tried manually pointing at it with the MSCDEX command and drivers but it says "out of driver letters"!?! I'm no guru, but this has never been a problem before. Whats the super secret way to address the slave CDROM with MSCDEX.exe?

do you have the lastdrive command in config.sys? If not, add the line

LASTDRIVE=Z

and that should allow you to assign a drive letter to the other CD-ROM.

Why you using mscdex? You don't need it to run in windows, only in plain DOS.
If you don't like letter assingments, go to Windows device manager and change it.

You know, thats probably what it is! Sheesh, so simple. Unfortunately, I've left that building and went back to my other office. I'll try it this afternoon.

Ark-

Hehe, I'm using DOS to image the hard drive from CDROM. I've got my base image on CDROM. Its pretty easy to setup workstations off CDROm where all of the basic settings are done in one 3 minute swoop. 🙂
