I want a simple user-response form field where ppl answer my survey questions while locking downing the rest of the content, except for the given form field.

Well I got that part done. You can make it so that you can only type in the form fields.

But in the form fields, you can still press enter for additional lines which PUSHES down the rest of the content

Why can't they stay locked!?!?? Can anyone help? It's Word 2007.

I don't mess with form fields too often but I think you can prevent a new line from being entered by locking down the row height of the form field. Select the field(s) you want to lock down then go into Table Tools, Layout tab, and select Properties. In the Table Properties dialog box select the Row tab and click the Specify height checkbox, enter the desired row height, then choose Row height is: Exactly.

Tried it an it seems to work.

Hope that helps.

I just tried that. Specified a desired height, clicked EXACTLY and locked a protection on it for final usage.

And it doens't work! :( If I press enter in the answer field several times, it STILL pushes off all below content and even expands the table which was supposedly LOCKED.

WTF... anyone else??? Please....

Is your table cell auto-resizing turned off?

Yes. And it still doesn't work. What gives.... :(

Strange. I tested it out and it works for me. I did notice that sometimes I had to go back and set the cell height to Exactly again because it didn't take the first time.

If I set the cell height to Exactly and disable auto-resizing when I input text and hit Enter that the cursor disappears and the word entered in the form field is automatically capitalized (though that can be turned off too).

If you'd like I can send you a form template that I've modified so you can see the behavior? You should be able to C&P the form filed cell into your own document and then resize it for your use. A cell should keep it's properties even when copied to another document. If you want to try that, PM me with your e-mail addy.

Have you tried CTRL Enter or Shift Enter. I don't have Word on here so I can't try it myself.......
