ms word help

trying to create a form in word.
i want to make it so i can type in the test in the fields.

how do i make it so that i don't overwrite the field underline?

example:

my form looks like this:

name: ___________________
address: _________________
city: _____________________
state: ____________________

how do i make it so that when i type the info that goes in the fields the underlines are overwritten? like frffewfwe

I supposed a ghetto way of doing it would be:

1) Turn on underline
2) Then hit the spacebar all the way over until you want the line to stop
3) Hit the insert key on the keyboard and go to the beginning of the line
4) Then type over it, and it should have an underline under it.

Turn your form into a table, turn on the bottom border of the cell with the blank for the information in it.

There is a "Forms" toolbar, with various form type tools / options on it... but I'm not familar with it...other than knowing it exists. 🙂

yeah, i thought of that too but there has to be a way of doing it without doing it that way.

your 1st idea works better but it doesn't look nice.

i was messign with the forms function but couldn't really get it to work out right. i probably wasn't doing something correctly.

Did you right align the text column so that it was right next to the underline? I find that helps with the aesthetics.

I used "." to represent blank space cause HTML strips out the extra spaces.

LOL...oh well... I can't get it to look right on here... but I think you get the idea.

Of course that's my opinion. 🙂

I couldn't get the forms tools to work right either...or at least get them to do what I wanted them to... I'll have to play around with it when I have some more time.

You could use form fields, then add protection to the document.
