So, I want to insert page numbers in Word to a socument, but I want to start numbering from 1 on page 6. I have no clue how to do this, and I even asked(gasp!) Clippy.

Insert --> Page Numbers --> Click 'Format' --> Go to 'Start at' --> Change number to '6'

^ Using Word 2000, may not work on older editions.

Place a section break after first five pages, then go to the first page of the 2nd section and insert, page numbers, format, start at page 1

Amit, I put in the section breaks, now what? when I go and put the page numbers in when the cursor is in the 6th page, and the numbers go form 1-5 and on page 6 the number is 2-14. How do I make the numbers not show up on the first section and how do I make the # start from 1 on the second section. Oh and I did format it to start with 1

Use a section break and there should be an option in the page number dialog to start numbering from this page or this section.
