What is the difference between Word and Writer? The default softwares that come with Windows OS. Both seem to be separate applications but upon glancing look like one and the same.
It's not related to the above question, but I am interested in writing some short stories. What would be a good word processor for something like that? Preferably a portable version. I have a portable one called KingSoftWriter which appears to be very robust. I didn't seem to care for Jarte but I have never did much with any word processor before so I don't know what features I may want from any particular one. An auto spell check would be nice however.
Also, what font and size would work best for printing it out? Any other suggestions I should know about in regards to authoring stories?
