Just picked up the MS Wireless Intellimouse Optical Explorer 2.0 Metallic Blue (M03-00039) at local OM in Central Florida. It was advertised on an insert within the weekly in-store specials. Don't know if it was specific to this store, central Florida...or the World, so YMMV.

Seems like a better than average wireless mouse...complete with the new tilt wheel, all buttons are programmable, including the two extra thumb buttons. Plus, the Intellimouse SW monitors battery charge and signal strength. I think the tilt wheel is a great innovation, particularly for use with the small screen on my laptop at work.

Only downside is if you are a lefty. This one is ergonomically designed for the right-handed user.

Definitely worth $14.

I had one and did not care for it SO I gave it to the wife.

She does like it.

I got the wired version which I love. I rarely use the tilt wheel but I have found myself try to tilt the wheels on other mice when I am working on other systems.

IMO it is a good mouse and for $15 It is a Great Deal

Nice, I didn't see that one listed on their web site when I found the other OM optical mice deals. They had the MS Optical Basic mouse listed at $10 after IR too, but of course that's not wireless. They had a 5-button Fellowes wireless optical for $14 listed, not sure about the quality on that one.

Oh, that one has the new "tilt wheel" too... good deal! I didn't see it in my store's flyer, so it's likely regional.

Edit: OP, have the OM SKU # handy? (It should be on the reciept too.)

I think this is the one I tried where they've moved the thumb buttons up too high, from where they were on the 3.0 wired / 1.0 wireless.

The thumb buttons are high but not necessarily a bad thing. I had one of the original Intellimouse Explorer (first optical) and the thumb buttons I thought were too large and low.

I've been using it since yesterday afternoon and find it to be very comfortable. I was using the MS Wireless Standard Optical and think this one is definitely better. Seems smoother and more accurate. Also the range is better.

One thing I don't like is the scroll wheel doesn't have the usual detents when operating. It will take some getting use to as it is just a smooth continuous movement. When I first used it, I thought perhaps it was broken but checked against the other one I purchased for home and it was the same.

Is the range on this any better then the 1.0? That sucker had terrible range. I really did was $50 on that.

If it is in direct line with the receiver, the mouse will seems functional at least 8 feet (the back wall of my office). If the receiver is tucked behind the screen of my laptop, it is reduced dramatically, maybe 2-3 feet.

I will keep it, but the "no detent" wheel killed it for me. When I game i need the "notches" so I know what weapon I am selecting.

I will keep it and use it someplace, because heck, for $14 you can't go wrong.

I did find it humorous that the cashier still felt obligated to offer me the $3 replacement warranty .. she laughed out loud when I pointed out that the warranty was over 20% of the purchase price!

Anyone having trouble with this mouse? I bought one last night for $14 at OM. I jumped on it, since its a great deal.

My old mouse was a Corded Intellimouse Explorer. The new one doesnt seem to be as accurate as the corded one. Say I want to hightlight something, it feels like I have to put more effort into positioning the wireless mouse. Another thing is the middle mouse button. I use the middle mouse button to close Firefox webpages, but the Wireless mouse has a hard to press middel button.

i installed the latest Intellimouse software. I remember the old versions having a setup tool that you run thru to "learn" how you use a mouse. I dont see it on the new version (Intllimouse 5.2)

If anyone has suggestions, please post. I really want a wireless mouse, but I cant use this the way its working...

Regarding the lack of accuracy, you may try synching the mouse to the receiver.

I was having second thoughts about my purchase until I downloaded the new mouse driver(5.2 same as you described), after that most of my major concerns went away.

BTW, I still don't care for the action of the scroll wheel, either pressing it or the lack of detents as the wired mouse had. On the positive side, I like the rest of the ergonomices of the mouse and getting rid of one more cable on my desktop.

Saying all that, a wired mouse may always be more accurate...kinda like, wired networking beats wireless hands down in the reliability and performance but not in convenience.
