MS Wheelmouse Optical
$30 shipped overnight

This is a pretty warm deal if you ask me! The mouse seems to be the same
as the Intellimouse Optical except it doesn't have the two side buttons.

You really don't need a special mouse pad for optical mouse. However, it won't work on surfaces that reflect light such as glass tables or white colored mouse pads. I'm using an everglide (black colored) mouse pad and it's perfectly fine on that.

I have this mouse and it's great. It's shaped like the new Intellimouse optical, but just doesn't have the button to the left and right of the main two buttons. I only use the main two buttons and the wheel so I don't feel having two extra buttons is worth $20 more. The price at Onvia looks really good...

Great mouse, but...it's sooo light. I'm used to the heavier mice...so my aim was way off for awhile in CounterStrike and Quake3.

My Two Pesos...

Edit: BTW, the mouse found at Onvia IS the same mouse...product #'s match...bad listing Oniva...not discriptive.

Yea- Onvia is IMHO one of THE worst at providing pictures and descriptions. But, I have been nothing but happy with their service.

Nobody mentioned it yet, but I've seen the Logitech Optical WheelMouse
for $29.95 (regular price) at Staples B&M.

I like the shape better and even though it'll cost you a few bucks
more than the MS mouse at Onvia, I figured I'd mention it.

I highly doubt there will be a cordless optical mouse....too much power draw.

yeah, w/all that stuff running on your batteries...you'll be replacing them pretty fast.

I can't live w/o scroll and thumb button...got my Logitech Mouseman +...can't complain..even though optical ones look so darn cool...

The optical mouse should be both USB with a PS2 converter. I have one for about a year right now, but it's kind of busted now. Sometimes it randomly double clicks or triple clicks, hecks even quadruple clicks things on it's own. I once had 4 browser windows open, i click to close one of them and my mouse went beserk and clicked all 4 closed. It does this when I'm connected to USB or PS2. Just a forewarning. Any one else get this with their MS white optical mouse?

Seizure:

You may want to look here about the "phantom" clicking problem. Look at the posting on May 31, 2000, although it seems to be related to the Explorer mouse.

Hey, that's strange. I returned my Logitech Optical Mouse + because of the "phantom double clicking."

And here I thought I was just going crazy, but apparently it's a real problem! (Of course, the ariticle refers to the Microsoft Mouse. Wow, I wonder if Logitech bought all of the defective Microsoft Mice and "refurbished" the inside technology to sell as new. Nah, that's illegal.)

I'm not trying to knock down this deal. Many people do like their Ms mouse. I just think Logitech mouse are a solid. They do produce high quality product. Thanks to Anandtech, I got my optical for ~$10 from a couple of month back(pricematch Staples+ rebate.)

i havent had any problems with phantom clicking, but i have had problems with my mouse dying out. after 6 months of using my intellimouse w/ intelli-eye, the damn thing stopped working all together! during the last two weeks of it's use, the mouse would go on and off. i've read that alot of other people have had problems w/ their ms optical mouse breaking as well. there's suppose to be a 5 year warrantee on all the ms optical mice, but on their website they dont state any way you can claim your warrantee. i'm not sure if this mouse will have the same problem too, but i'm pretty sure it will.

i finally gave up and got my logitech. i noticed that it's design is better for gaming, well at least for me. but the ms mouse is more comfortable to use on a daily basis.
