MS volume licensing WTF?

I don't understand all this shit. I don't need a real long detailed explanation but...

What's the best way to get MS office on 5 computers? 5 is the minimum volume license I believe, but I can't figure this shit out @CDW.

We'd rather not spend 2k in 5 copies of office, so any guidance in this area would be helpful

this is where microsoft costs you.
apple family pack software is cheap, upgrade for even the o/s is only $200 for a 5 pack license for apple.

I paid $67 a license for educational office from cdw. Contact them and they'll set you up. You will pay something for the media too, at least $25.

IDK what the pricing of MVLS is.. it's worth checking out.

You might check out the licensing and pricing and subscription requirements of the ActionPack too, I think that's like $300-$400/year and depending on what your organization does and if/how you register with MS you may qualify under its licensing model.

Of course OpenOffice is free..... as is I think a version of IBM/Lotus Office (not sure about the commercial license details) and I think StarOffice isn't that expensive, but whatever works for you all.

Have you called CDW? They have licensing experts who can explain this sort of thing.

Just got in contact with our new CDW rep. I'll report back.

For future reference, not as bad as I thought.

Open Licensing, Office 2007 which can be downgraded to 2003.

Cost? $1700

Is this for personal use or for your work? If for work I'm guessing you don't have a MS agreement in place? Are you looking for standard or Pro Plus? Do you want software assurance?
