Xbox Live Policy and Enforcement dude Stephen Toulouse has said that not only will cheaters? total gamerscore be reset to zero, their gamercards will also be branded - so the fact that you?ve cheated will follow you around forever.

?The bar is a little bit higher than that,? Toulouse replied when Major Nelson quizzed him about gamerscore reset on latest podcast.

?The other thing it does is, it puts a tag that you?ve been cheating on your gamercard. That?s a pretty big Scarlett Letter.?

So don?t do it, innit!

I'm pretty sure some will proudly wear the tag like a badge of courage but at least it gives everyone else a warning about who they are playing with. Now we just need tags for drunken frat boy, annoying 12-year old, and online racist.

I don't know the specific how-to, but some gamers were taking advantage of a Gears of War 2 glitch to artificially increase their gamerscore. MS identified these gamers through MS magic and reset their gamerscores to zero and apparently are now adding the cheater tag.

The one cheat I read about was they could download a file that had all achievements and jack that up.

as long as the dont ban the gamertag people wont care. i never check people gamecard out.

this is fail 🙂

I think at one point last year they banned a bunch of people who were using some kind of proxy to trick their machine into thinking they got achievements they didn't get.

I don't care if people achievement-whore or even use exploits to get achievements, I just don't want people cheating in the games I'm playing because it's not fair.
