MS Student Select Windows XP Professional Upgrade?

Our university recently added an MS program and I can now purchase this for fairly cheap. I'm onl seeing "Upgrade" though. With this particular purchase, are you able to use the media for a fresh install, or is a previous installation required?
 
hard to tell from the info provided. Are you in an IT program? or is this through the bookstore or something similiar? If it is real cheap and not part of a program offered through your IT dept then it could well be an upgrade and a previous version would be required. If it is an upgrade you dont have to install over an older version, but you do have to have an install disk of that older version as it will ask for it if you are doing a clean install
