MS SideWinder JS and XP PRO

My friend is having trouble getting his SideWinder Joystick to install under XP pro. He says he installed XP P with Administrator rights. Any idea why XP will not detect the joystick?

have you tried to manually add joystick...control panel....gaming options....add....XP has built-in drivers.
