I have an old MS Sidewinder Gamepad controller with the gameport to usb adapter. Decided to see if it would still work in Windows 10, but it doesn't look like it. I plugged it in and the light comes on, but Windows doesn't see it at all. On another Windows 10 box it did show up in the device manager, but it said "device descriptor request failed." Has anyone got one to work in Windows 10 before? I know it is a long shot, but figured some of you old guys might have had one and tried it out.

Yeah. $20 is a lot for the adapter. I figured the adapter it came with would just work. Didn't really consider the adapter used any software. I have a MS Sidewinder Freestyle Pro also, somewhere. I will try it and if it doesn't work either. I guess they are trash. Thanks for the help.

I have a collection of genuine Microsoft hardware (like old Wireless KBD Mouse combos, and game pads), they work OK with some 10 years old Core2Duo (like Dell 530s) computers but not with any modern Computer. The newer computers acknowledge that something is connected to the USB but do not make functional. There something in the old USB implementation of the hardware that make it incompatible with more recent USB2 and USB3.
